Membership Information

Membership Requirements

Quest Toastmasters Club is open to all above the age of 18. Our club has members of all generations and backgrounds: university students, professionals, civil servants, entrepreneurs, parents, tradespeople, retirees.

NOTE: Because all of our meetings, speeches, and written communication are conducted in the English language, we require that you be able to communicate verbally in English at least at a "functional" level. If you are not sure, we invite you to come out anyways, and we can provide you with feedback on your proficiency level.

Il existe plusieurs clubs Toastmasters à Québec qui fonctionnent en français si vous le préférez. Une liste complète des clubs se trouve au www.toastmasters-quebec.com

Your membership includes all the professionally prepared materials (handouts, manuals) for designing and delivering your presentations, and a subscription to The Toastmaster magazine.

Time Commitment

Our meetings start precisely at 7AM and finish at 8:30AM. Since meetings are held during breakfast, there is no intrusion on your workday, evenings or weekends.

You attend meetings according to your own schedule. Many members attend most meetings, which makes for a lively experience!

The only other time requirement would be to prepare speeches or introductions, find tabletopics, or review evaluation criteria. Preparation time depends upon your role, if any, for the next meeting. If you choose to give a speech or assume a role for a given meeting (this is entirely up to you), count on a preparation time between 30 minutes (for a role), to one or two hours (for a speech).

You determine the pace at which you wish to progress through the Toastmasters Educational Program.

Dues Payments

You pay dues to Quest Toastmasters Club to cover your membership with Toastmasters International and local club expenses.

Dues for 2008-09 are
$145 annual for a new member (includes $40 initiation fee)
or
$105 annual for a returning member
(or two payments of $50 in September and $55 in February)
Tax receipts can be issued for membership dues.

There is also a room fee of $10.00 per person per meeting, this includes a delicious breakfast, orange juice, coffee or tea.
